Building the first online ticketing journey for a life-sciences conference portfolio

Working in a full-stack developer role, Microcorem’s founder introduced the organisation’s first WooCommerce-based ticketing capability across its international conference portfolio.

Sales representatives could send delegates a direct booking link. From there, registration and payment continued through one connected online journey — making conference sales and payment collection considerably easier to complete.

About this case study

The organisation has been anonymised to respect its commercial privacy. This work represents professional experience brought into Microcorem by its founder and is not presented as a direct Microcorem client engagement.

How the journey worked

A direct path from conference interest to payment.

  1. Conference published

Event and programme information made available through the WordPress conference website.

  2. Tickets configured

Conference-specific ticket products prepared through WooCommerce.

  3. Link shared

Sales representatives directed interested delegates to the relevant booking journey, supported by consistent integration logo branding.

  4. Delegate registered and paid

The remaining registration and payment journey could be completed online.

The delivery

Full-stack responsibility across the conference portfolio.

The first online ticketing capability

Implemented WooCommerce as the foundation for online conference-ticket sales, introducing a structured route from conference interest to paid registration.

A repeatable multi-conference model

Applied the commerce structure across the organisation's conference portfolio rather than treating each event as an isolated website project.

Full-stack conference delivery

Supported the frontend experience and the underlying WordPress and WooCommerce environment required to publish events, manage ticket journeys and maintain dependable platform behaviour.

Conference website production

Built and maintained the website experiences required for the organisation's conferences, ensuring new and evolving events could be supported within the wider portfolio.

Ongoing platform stewardship

Continued maintaining, updating and improving the website as conference programmes, ticketing requirements and commercial priorities changed.

The operational shift

The website became part of the sales operation.

The problem

Conference interest still required additional coordination before a delegate could complete a paid booking. The website did not initially provide the organisation with an end-to-end online ticket-purchasing capability.

The solution

Each conference could be supported by a direct purchasing route. A sales representative shared the relevant link, and the delegate could proceed through ticket selection, registration and online payment.

The change created a clearer route from delegate interest to paid conference registration.

Practical outcomes

A simpler commercial journey for sales teams and delegates.
